Sukhumvit is a huge area and Thonglor is just one of its sub-area (Refer to Sukhumvit soi 55). My recommendation is to stay anywhere from Chit Lom to Ekkamai.

If you are a party animal, Soi 11 in Sukhumvit is a good option to stay.
